Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the Agneepath Scheme would prove to be a milestone and a “Game Changer” in strengthening the armed forces and preparing them for future challenges. The Prime Minister said this during an interaction through video conference with the first batch of Agniveers of the short-term scheme of recruitment in all the three services, “Agneepath”.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Modi also said that Yuva Agniveer will make the armed forces more youthful and “tech-savvy”.

Lauding the prowess of the Agniveers, the Prime Minister said their spirit reflects the bravery of the armed forces, which have always held the nation’s flag high. “The experience they will gain through this opportunity will be a source of pride for life,” he said. The Prime Minister said that the new India is full of renewed vigor and the Armed Forces will be modernized as well as self-reliant.

Efforts are underway to make Referring to the changing ways of waging war in the 21st century, the Prime Minister also discussed the new frontiers of non-contact warfare and the challenges of cyber warfare during the interaction.
The Prime Minister said, “Technologically advanced soldiers will play an important role in our armed forces. The present generation of youth especially has this potential. That’s why Agniveer will play a leading role in our armed forces in times to come. The Prime Minister also said that this scheme will further empower women. He expressed happiness over how women Agniveers are making the Navy proud.
PM Modi said that he is looking forward to seeing Women Agniveers in all three forces. Citing examples of women soldiers posted in Siachen and women flying modern fighter aircraft, the Prime Minister told the Agniveers how women are leading the armed forces on various fronts.
