Hisha Baghel is the First Woman to be Selected for Agniveer in Agnipath Scheme 2022. Hisha resides in the Chhattisgarh village of Borigarka in the Durg district. Hisha is currently enrolled in the Agnipath Scheme, which was introduced by the Union Government in 2022, for training as a Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) in the Indian Navy in Chilka, Odisha. Hisha will be enrolled as an agniveer in the Indian Armed Forces after completing her training.
According to reports, Hisha faced many challenges and hardships on her road to enlisting in the army and serve her country. While paying for her father’s costly cancer treatment, Hisha’s family had to face several financial obstacles. In an interview with ANI, Hisha’s mother expressed her pride in her child. Hisha’s mother stated, “We spent the money that was planned for my husband’s cancer treatment to be able to educate our children. We sold our land and car.” For the Agnipath training, Hisha rises at four in the morning.

The teacher at Hisha’s school also expressed their pride in having a student from their institution chosen as the first lady Agniveer. Hisha’s teacher said that Hisha has always been an intelligent student who excels in athletics.
Agnipath Scheme Training Highlights
For the first batch of Agniveers who were chosen in the Indian Agnipath Scheme 2022 for the recruitment as Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen for 4 years in the respective Armed Forces—Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force—the Indian Armed Forces began the Agnipath Training on January 2, 2023.

Agniveers will complete the Agnipath Training Process for 6 months before reporting to their respective units for additional training. Agniveers will be hired for a three-and-a-half-year (3.5 years) length of duty following a six-month training period.
What is Agnipath Scheme?
On June 14, 2022, the Union Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, announced the Agnipath Scheme 2022, which aims to recruit young people (Indian candidates who are single men and women) into the Indian Armed Forces. The Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force will accept eligible and successful applicants as Agniveers through the Agnipath Scheme.
